    A Bittersweet Fairwell

It is with considerable sadness that I must announce the departure of one our best and most loyal writers, Wes Kaplan, who has worked tirelessly to make snack reviewing his priority in the last few days. A statement from his publicist explained the move.

“Wes would like to thank the community that has given him the respect he’s earned. The reasons for his departure are varied, but a major factor was his deep conflict of interests, a conflict that has arisen from a position taken at Pringles last week as a Senior Product Representative. While Wes had no intention of deceiving his pledged objectivity at Snack You Silly, he feels that his decision to leave is the best for both his integrity and personal sanity.”

As an editor, seeing Wes’ notice of resignation on my desk was one of the hardest sights imaginable. Everyone at SYS wishes him nothing but the greatest at Pringles as he climbs corporate peaks far beyond what SYS could offer him. I would like to publicly (and quite unabashedly) remind him that he will always have a home as long as SYS is fit to print.

With time equating money in every sense of the phrase, we’ve been forced to consider a replacement as soon as possible. After sifting through over 145 applications, I’m pleased to welcome Mr. Kevin Khilds (pronounced “childs”) to our team.

We’ve made the decision to add Kevin to our team after scrutinizing his admirable record as a Systems Integrity Inspector for Nabisco. Kevin has made the ambitious offer to handle the McDonald’s Dollar Menu review, previously on Wes’ plate, which will be live tomorrow.

Wes will be sorely missed. Without Wes, SYS would not exist, it’s that simple. As I’ve said elsewhere, Wes has forged an indelible place in history by his sheer knowledge of the industry and charisma in writing about snackfood.

    3. Kevin Khilds Says:

THE TRUTH: Attempting to break the Saltines-in-a-minute record, Wes broke his larynx. He can never snack again.
